Care and Use of the Magnetic Letter Tiles

1. When breaking apart the letter tiles, place letterset sheet flat with letters facing up. Fold IN on the score line to break apart the letters.

2. Store folders and letters away from direct sunlight.

3. Store extra letters in groups.

Kindergarten – Place s, a, t, r on board. Store others in separate sections in craft box with 34 sections.

Level 1 and Level 2 – place consonants and short vowels on board. Store others as explained in Streamlined Manual or shown in the following picture

4. Store folders flat, not upright.

5. Have students check that all tiles are on the folders at the end of your session with them.

6. Encourage students to use properly:

a. Have clean hands!

b. Slide tile with one finger when moving the tile (if possible).

c. Carefully close and open folders.

d. Do not bend folders backwards.

e. Do not play with the edges of the folders or with the letters.

7. Use a slightly damp cloth or cleaning wipe to clean the letters. But, please note the following cautions!

SQUEEZE All EXCESS WATER/LIQUID out of the cloth or wipe first.

Use products "without” bleach.

Be aware that moisture getting between the coating and the magnet will result in damage (the letters have a protective coating, but the edges are open/exposed when they are snapped apart).
